PROJECT STATEMENT 项目介绍:
The Tang Contemporary Art Gallery is located in 798, Beijing, China. The existing Building is a 24mx24m industrial building, with a small addition that functions as a storage and a 1 story entrance building that was added later. We re-arranged both the existing interior so the exhibition space would be cleaned up, and the Gallery entrance more public and recognizable as well as the outside space by adding new openings and semi-enclosed gardens. We transformed the old storage space into the main entrance, so the gallery would have its entrance along the main road of the art district. The old entrance will be replaced by a 3 story volume, with an artist studio, VIP room, office and main staircase that will replace the existing staircase that was located in the exhibition space of the gallery. The existing exhibition space and offices will be cleaned up, by re-organizing the lighting, electricity and HVAC. The new buildings will made off insulated in-situ concrete walls, that will give the gallery an unique appearance and fits well in the industrial district. The gardens on both front and back side add quality to the adjacent interior spaces and public space.
